Celebramos un encuentro con Gabriella Coleman, autora de Las mil caras de Anonymous, sobre la cultura hacker y su relevancia política. En su presentación, Coleman mostrará y comentará una serie vídeos que documentan los orígenes del Software Libre y de su compromiso en la lucha por el derecho a no ser controlados por los dispositivos tecnológicos que usamos. Además, hablará del aumento de la acción directa en forma de filtraciones y el hacktivismo, a través de la presentación de vídeos, y estableciendo la relación con el Software libre y otras formas de hackeo.
Después de la presentación tendremos una discusión sobre el tema. El encuentro se realizará en Español y en Inglés.

From Free Software to Anonymous Hacktivism: the Visual Culture of Hacking
On Saturday, november 12th, 6pm – 8:30 pm
We will host a meeting with Gabriella Coleman, author of The Many Faces of Anonymous, on the culture of hacking and its political relevance. In this presentation she will show and comment on a series of old videos that document the origins of Free Software and its compromise in fighting for the human right of not been controlled by the technological devices we use. She will also then address the rise of direct action leaking and hacktivism, also told through the lens of video clips, and address its relation to free software and other modalities of hacking.
There will be a discussion after the talk. The meeting will be held in Spanish and English.
